Carolina Critters

Bringing Wildlife Education to Your Doorstep

Carolina Critters is your go-to mobile education program, dedicated to bringing the wonders of wildlife directly to schools, communities, and events. Our mission is to educate and inspire the next generation about the importance of animal conservation and the beauty of our planet’s diverse species.

About

In numerous instances, we have addressed audiences of up to five hundred students, asking the question, “How many of you have had the opportunity to visit a zoo?” Regrettably, we typically witness only around 85 to 100 hands raised. This observation ignited our commitment to bring the zoo experience directly to the students! We firmly believe that every enrolled student, regardless of financial or familial challenges, should have the chance to witness and engage with these endangered animals up close and personal. Our complimentary mobile programs offer a captivating 45-minute educational presentation, seamlessly blending entertainment and learning. Students not only get to witness real-life scenarios, such as the classic tale of the tortoise and the hare, but also actively participate by sharing their thoughts, what they learned from the story and how it can help them grow in the future. The program also includes engaging activities like singing “Baby Shark Doo Doo” with our dancing and singing parrot and observing teachers, who serve as role models, collaboratively addressing challenges and overcoming fears. Our mission is to sow the seeds of conservation in the fertile minds of these young learners. Active-student participation involves questioning, demonstrations, and responses to the speaker. Animal interaction during programs is limited to minimize allergies, ensure animal safety, and maintain a controlled environment. We are fully licensed and Insured!

Enjoy Interaction with Exotic Animal at Carolina Critters

Our founder has an extensive and varied background in working with exotic animals. Recognized internationally, including an invitation to Dubai to consult with the royal family on raptor conservation, our founder’s dedication to wildlife education and conservation is unparalleled. With years of experience and a genuine passion for animals, Carolina Critters was established to make wildlife education accessible to everyone. Our mobile programs ensure that children, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to engage with and learn about amazing animals.

Educational Programs

Carolina Critters offers a unique educational program designed to captivate and educate students. In the first year, we focus on familiar domestic animals like bearded dragons, tortoises, rabbits, and dancing parrots.

Free Educational Program

Our Free-Educational program focuses on familiar domestic animals, each chosen for their educational value and ability to engage students:

Presentation Areas

The choice of presentation areas plays a crucial role in the success of mobile programs. Gymnasiums, auditoriums, and annex rooms are ideal settings for accommodating large audiences and providing the necessary infrastructure for interactive presentations. These spaces offer ample seating, audiovisual equipment, and accessibility, ensuring that the educational content reaches its intended audience effectively.

Audience Participation

Active participation from children is a fundamental component of free mobile programs. Encouraging students to ask questions, participate in demonstrations, and respond to the speaker’s inquiries not only enhances their learning experience but also ensures that the program remains engaging and interactive. This two-way communication fosters a deeper understanding of the educational content.

Animal Ambassador Guidelines

The inclusion of live animals as part of these programs can be both captivating and educational. However, it is essential to establish guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of both the animals and the audience. Here are key considerations for using animal ambassadors:
Allergic Reactions

To minimize allergic reactions among the audience, it is advisable to restrict direct contact between students and animals. Promote the importance of observing animals from a safe distance while emphasizing the educational aspect of the encounter.

Safety Measures

Ensuring a safe environment for both animals and attendees is paramount. Implement safety measures, such as secure enclosures for animals, trained handlers, and clear instructions for audience members on how to behave around the animals.

Minimizing Chaos

Live animal demonstrations can be lively, but it is crucial to maintain a controlled atmosphere. Organize the presentation to prevent overcrowding or disruptive behavior, ensuring that students can fully engage with the educational content.

How teachers get free photos

Teachers can often get free photos through various resources and programs designed to support educational activities. Here are some common ways teachers can access free photos:
  • Educational Websites and Platforms: Many educational websites and platforms provide free access to stock photos for educational use. These photos are often high-quality and cover a wide range of topics suitable for classroom presentations, worksheets, and projects.

  • Creative Commons Licenses: Photos licensed under Creative Commons (CC) can be used for free under certain conditions specified by the license (e.g., attribution, non-commercial use). Websites like Flickr and Wikimedia Commons offer searchable databases of CC-licensed photos that teachers can use in their educational materials.

  • Government Websites: Government agencies often provide free access to photos related to historical events, scientific research, and cultural heritage. For example, NASA and NOAA offer extensive photo libraries that educators can use for educational purposes.

  • Educational Grants and Programs: Some educational grants and programs provide funding for resources, including photos and other multimedia materials, that support specific educational projects or initiatives. Teachers can apply for these grants through educational organizations and foundations.

  • Teacher Resource Websites: Websites specifically designed for teachers may offer free resources, including photos, as part of their educational materials. Examples include Teachers Pay Teachers and educational blogs that share free resources for classroom use.

  • School Licenses and Subscriptions: Some schools or districts may have subscriptions to stock photo websites or educational platforms that offer free photos and images for teachers to use in their classrooms.

  • Professional Development Workshops and Conferences: Teachers attending professional development workshops or conferences may receive access to free resources, including photos and images, as part of the event materials or follow-up resources provided.
